The Master’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering (120 ECTS) at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” is not a one-size-fits-all programme. Instead of following a single fixed curriculum, students must choose among several structured “blocks” (A, B, C1, C2, D, E).
Each block is designed for students with different academic backgrounds and includes courses intended to strengthen specific areas of preparation.
The choice of block is not random; it must be consistent with the student’s previous Bachelor’s degree. The aim is to compensate for any knowledge gaps resulting from different undergraduate programmes.
For example, a student with a predominantly electronics background may need to strengthen their mechanics preparation, while a graduate in mechanical engineering may need to reinforce their knowledge of electronics.
At the time of enrolment, each student must select the block that best matches the subjects studied during their Bachelor’s degree. Each block includes a defined set of courses aligned with particular academic profiles.
BLOCK A – MECHANICS AND DIGITAL TRANSITION
→ For students from Electronic, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering with an electronics background.
BLOCK B – ELECTRONICS AND DIGITAL TRANSITION
→ For students from Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with a mechanical background.
BLOCK C – MECHATRONIC SYSTEMS AND ICT:
C1 – LEARNING AND COMMUNICATION
C2 – INTERCONNECTED ELECTRIC VEHICLE ENGINEERING
→ For students from Engineering Sciences, Systems Engineering, or Mechatronics.
BLOCK D – COMPUTATIONAL METHODS
→ Also for Engineering Sciences / Systems Engineering / Mechatronics, but with an emphasis on math and computing. It is conceived for eager students who are willing to expand their knowledge by acquiring advanced mathematical skills and computing capabilities.
BLOCK E – ELECTROMECHANICS
→ For students from a variety of backgrounds (e.g., Informatics, Physics, Biomedical, Automation & Control) who want a broader foundation in both mechanics and electronics.
